Artes de Ilusión puts capital to work in two ways: companies we start and run ourselves, and startups outside the group that we invest in. The capital for both comes from a small group of investors.
Two ways in
Some companies we build ourselves, with our own team running product, engineering and operations. Others are startups and service businesses founded by other people, where we invest and stay involved.
Both sides draw on the same people and the same operating experience.
A small group of investors
Capital comes from a limited number of investors. We don't run open rounds, and we don't take money from people we haven't met.
Investors get exposure to the whole group: the companies we build and the businesses we back.
Where we invest
We invest in AI and software startups, and in service businesses with steady demand, such as marina and boat care.
What they have in common is that operations decide the outcome. That is where we can help. We back fewer companies than most investors, so we can stay useful to each one.
Plain reporting
Investors get regular updates on every company and every investment: revenue, costs, usage and what isn't working.
If something isn't working, we say so and explain what we're doing about it.
Long holding periods
We don't plan quick exits. We run our own companies for years and stay in our investments for the long run. Investors should expect the same horizon.
